Chapter 6: College Committees & Advisory Councils

Purpose

The Academic Affairs Committee is responsible for all matters pertaining to academic admission and readmission requirements, academic standards, curriculum changes, distance education, and the Library. The Academic Affairs Committee will make recommendations to the President through the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Membership

  1. Vice President for Academic Affairs, Chair
  2. Academic Deans (6):
    1. Behavioral and Social Sciences Division
    2. Health Professions Division
    3. Humanities Division
    4. Mathematics Division
    5. Science Division
    6. Technologies Division
  3. Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Programs and Services
  4. Assistant Vice President for Multi-Campus Programs
  5. Assistant Vice President for Research, Analytics, and Planning, Non-voting
  6. Chair of Curriculum Subcommittee
  7. Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Services
  8. Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Success
  9. Dean of Teaching Excellence and Academic Resources
  10. Dean of the Library
  11. Director of Financial Aid, Non-voting
  12. Executive Director of Economic and Workforce Development
  13. Faculty (6):
    1. Faculty (1): elected by Faculty in the Behavioral and Social Sciences Division
    2. Faculty (1): elected by Faculty in the Health Professions Division
    3. Faculty (1): elected by Faculty in the Humanities Division
    4. Faculty (1): elected by Faculty in the Mathematics Division
    5. Faculty (1): elected by Faculty in the Science Division
    6. Faculty (1): elected by Faculty in the Technologies Division
  14. Faculty Senate President
  15. Students (2): appointed by the Vice President for Institutional Excellence and Student Success
  16. Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development
  17. Vice President for Institutional Excellence and Student Success, Non-voting

Academic Affairs Subcommittees

Five subcommittees will be established by the Academic Affairs Committee. Members of the subcommittees will be appointed by the Vice President for Academic Affairs or elected by the Academic Affairs Committee or by faculty within the six instructional divisions. The subcommittees will make recommendations directly to the Academic Affairs Committee. These subcommittees are:

  1. Admissions Subcommittee
  2. Curriculum Subcommittee
  3. Distance Education Subcommittee
  4. Grade Appeal Subcommittee
  5. Library Subcommittee
