04:28:00   Library Collection Development Policy

The Northeast State Community College Library strives to provide a quality collection of print and non-print materials that will meet the needs of the patrons served, as well as support the overall mission and goals of the College. The patrons of the library include students, staff, faculty, administrators, and members of the outlying community.

The purpose of the Collection Development Policy is to provide the guidelines used by the Northeast State Library for selection, acquisition, and maintenance of materials. The policy should:

  1. Ensure that the library develops a collection that is balanced to meet the needs and use of the user community;
  2. Provide objective selection criteria for librarians who select materials;
  3. Provide a means of communicating the collection goals and policies of the Library

Faculty, staff, and community members desiring additional information regarding the policy should contact the dean of the Library.
