Northeast State Community College supports the concept of employees continuing their education and of faculty working for promotion in rank. Salary adjustments are not automatic and will be instituted only when the annual budget guidelines from the Tennessee Board of Regents permit the adjustments.

Attainment of a Degree: Salary adjustments may be made in recognition of successful completion of an academic degree from an accredited institution of higher education. When a staff member achieves a change in educational status, the staff member should request an official transcript be forwarded to the Human Resources Office. Once the official transcript is received in the Human Resources Office, a Change of Status form will be routed for the appropriate approvals and notifications. Employees who attain an initial degree or degree at the next higher level will receive the following salary adjustments:

  1. Associate’s degree ($600.00)
  2. Bachelor’s degree ($1,200.00)
  3. Master’s degree ($1,600.00)
  4. Educational Specialist ($1,000.00)*
  5. Doctorate ($2,000.00)

*Employees completing the Educational Specialist degree program will receive a salary increase in the amount of $1,000.00.  Upon completion of the doctorate, the employee will receive an additional $1,000.00 salary increase.

The salary adjustment shall become effective on the first of the month following the month in which the degree was attained. Official transcripts indicating the completion of the degree must be on file in the office of Human Resources in order to receive the salary adjustment.

Faculty Promotion in Rank: Faculty members who are approved for promotion in rank by the Tennessee Board of Regents will receive the following salary adjustment.

  1. Instructor to Assistant Professor ($800.00)
  2. Assistant Professor to Associate Professor ($1,200.00)
  3. Associate Professor to Professor ($1,600.00)

The salary adjustment shall become effective at the beginning of the next academic year following notification of the promotion from the Tennessee Board of Regents. Salary adjustments for faculty on a fiscal year contract will become effective on July 1 of each year.
