Chapter 5: Personnel05:01:05 Group Insurance Plans
This plan is available to faculty and staff and their eligible dependents. The plan includes medical/hospitalization, basic group term life and special accident insurance coverage. Enrollment in this option has very specific time limits. Information on time limit rules can be obtained from the Fringe Benefit Office or from the state website link which is http://www.state.tn.us/finance/ins/publications.html.
The health plan is self-insured by the State of Tennessee and administered by the State of Tennessee Benefits Administration Office. Employees may select one of two PPO options. The college pays 80 percent of the premium and the employee must pay 20 percent of the premium.
The basic group term life and special accident coverage is managed by Fort Dearborn Life Insurance, Chicago, Illinois. The state provides $20,000 basic term life and $40,000 of basic special accident coverage at no cost to employees. Employees who enroll in the health insurance will receive term life coverage based on their salary with a maximum of $50,000/$100,000 for a small premium. Eligible dependents are covered for $3,000.

Cancer and/or Intensive Care by AFLAC
Vision - Eye-Med or VSP
The college does not pay any portion of the premium for the additional insurance options. Information on these options may be obtained from the Payroll/Benefit Office.
