What is Find It! @ Northeast?

Find it! @ Northeast provides links from a citation in a database to the full-text of that article, when it is available, in another database. It's a quick and easy way to find out if the Northeast State library has online full-text access to a specific article. Find it! @ Northeast is easy to use. When using most of the library article databases, you will see a link beside the citation that says "Find Full-Text Article"

For example:

When the "Find Full-Text Article" link is clicked Find it! @ Northeast will search the library databases and look for a full-text copy.

Simply click on the "Full Text Online" link of the database where the article is found and you will be taken to the full-text of that article.

If the article is not available online click on the "Check for Article in Print". This will open the Library Catalog to the Journal or Magazine the article is in. Check to see if Northeast State owns the Journal and the specific year and issue wanted.

If the Library does not own the print version, then use the option to "Request Article" and you can fill out the online form to request a copy of the article. When the copy arrives in the library, we will contact you and you may pick it up.

Why didn't I get a full-text link for my article?

There is probably no online full-text available for that article. See if the Library owns the journal or magazine title by using the "Check for Article in Print". If the Library does not own the print version, use the option to "Request Article" and fill out the online form to request a copy of the article. It usually takes a couple of days. When the copy arrives in the library, we will contact you and you may pick it up.

Why are there more than one source for full-text for some journals?

Sometimes a single article is available from multiple databases. You may choose which version you want to access.

I clicked on "Full-Text Article" and the options to find the full-text appears, but I only got the journal's home page (or the table of contents for the journal issue, or the abstract). Why?

Find it! @ Northeast will get you as close to the full-text as it can, but it depends on the specific database or publisher's web site. Most of the time it will take you straight to the full-text, but sometimes it will only take you to the table of contents for that journal issue. Basically, a full-text link tells you that the full-text is available, but you may have to do some work to get it.

If I have the citation to an article, can I use Find It! @ Northeast to find the article?

You should use the "Find an e-Journal" service and put in the journal or magazine title to see if the specific issue and date are available in full-text. If it's not available, check the "Library Catalog" and see if the Library subscribes to the print version. If you can't find it, you may use our "Request a Journal or Magazine Article" under "Interlibrary Loan" under "Library Services" on the Library's web page, and we will contact you when the article is available.

Sometimes when I use the "Check for Article in Print " link I don't find anything. What should I do next?

Click on the "Request Article" link, fill out the form, and we will contact you when the item is ready to be picked up.
